Attend a Lecture, Join a Workshop, Take a Docent-led Tour
Adult education at Quarryhill takes many forms. Docent-led tours are a source of learning not only about the garden, but about the worldwide plant extinction crisis, the importance of conservations efforts, and the effect that trees and plants have on our daily lives.Many different forms of lectures and workshops are given at Quarryhill, covering diverse subjects such as the Asian heritage of modern roses, conifers around the world, medicinal plants in traditional Asian medicine, and plant exploration in the far east.
Sonoma County Master Gardeners give workshops in the spring and summer at Quarryhill which focus on more local gardening topics. Representative topics for these workshops include:
- Designing the Garden for Year-Round Color
- Basics of Drip Irrigation
- Form and Foliage - Year-round Garden Interest with Minimal Care
- Designing with Ornamental Grasses
- Long-lasting Floral Arrangements
Volunteering at Quarryhill is a wonderful form of continuing education--you can learn much about botany and horticulture, plant taxonomy, seed germination and propagation and participate in educational field trips.
